FOSTER CARE
Foster care is when the children are in the custody of the state and we work with you and CPS with a goal to reunify the family. Children will receive benefits such as counseling, therapy, education and insurance such as medical, dental, and vision. Foster parents are reimbursed for care provided to the child(ren) to offset costs such as tuition and fees to a state college, vocational, or technical school and care.
ADOPTION
Information Parents adopting children may qualify for adoption subsidy if they adopt a child from DFPS system. We place matching children that are legally free for adoption or children potentially free for adoption (Legal Risk). Essential will help with the process every step of the way including but not limited to Legal representation to adoptive home study.
KINSHIP CARE / FOSTERING CONNECTIONS
Kinship caregivers temporarily provide foster care to children while later entering into an agreement with the state for financial assistance program. At times kinship caregivers take permanent legal custody of the child. This program allows a Kinship caregiver for a child to pursue foster home verification, if they are interested in supporting a child in DFPS conservatorship who is placed in their care.
HOME STUDIES
A foster/adoptive home study is a written evaluation, prior to the verification of the foster or adoptive home, of the respective parent, family of the prospective parent(s) part time or full-time household members; and environment of the foster parent(s) and their family in relation to their ability to meet the child's needs. Essential Foundation Inc. provides home study assessments for any potential foster or adoptive parents.
